Novak Djokovic made a commanding return to competitive tennis in his first match since the shock exit at the US Open, cruising past Greece’s Ioannis Xilas in the Davis Cup. Playing in front of his home crowd in Belgrade, Djokovic dropped only 15 points en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory, propelling Serbia to a 2-0 lead in the tie.

With the Serbian squad fielding a strong lineup, Djokovic’s impressive performance helped set the tone for the tie, with Miomir Kecmanovic also securing a straight-set win. Missing star player Stefanos Tsitsipas due to injury, Greece was left shorthanded. The Serbian victory puts them in a strong position to advance in the Davis Cup, as they aim to compete in the 2025 qualifying round.
