Brentford forward Yoane Wissa is set to miss the next two months after suffering an ankle injury during his side’s recent clash with Manchester City. The injury, which occurred during the first half following a tackle by City’s Mateo Kovacic, forced the 28-year-old to exit the match early. Brentford manager Thomas Frank confirmed the news, expressing frustration at yet another injury setback for his squad.

Wissa, who has been a key figure for Brentford, netting three goals in the team’s opening four Premier League games, will likely return in November. This injury comes at a particularly difficult time for Brentford, following the summer departure of Ivan Toney to Saudi Arabia and with their new £30m signing, Igor Thiago, also sidelined after knee surgery.

Frank acknowledged that the absence of both Wissa and Thiago will leave a significant gap in the attack. Despite these challenges, the Brentford boss remains optimistic about finding solutions to keep the team’s momentum going as they navigate the busy Premier League schedule.

Wissa’s injury is also a blow for DR Congo’s national team, as the forward’s absence could impact their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. DR Congo faces key matches in the coming months as they aim to secure their spot in the tournament.
