Just hours before the kickoff of the 2024 NFL season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott inked a historic contract extension, becoming the highest-paid player in league history. The Cowboys and Prescott agreed to a massive four-year, $240 million extension, which includes a staggering $231 million in guaranteed money.

The new deal makes Prescott the first NFL player to earn an average of $60 million annually, setting a new standard for quarterback contracts. Prescott, now 31, is coming off a stellar 2023 season where he led the league with 36 passing touchdowns, a first for a Cowboys quarterback. He also tied his career-high with 410 completions, racking up 4,516 passing yards, the third-most in the NFL.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Prescott’s exceptional performance last season placed him second in the NFL MVP voting, further solidifying his status as one of the top quarterbacks in the game.

The Cowboys will begin their 2024 campaign on the road, facing off against the Cleveland Browns as Prescott looks to build on his impressive success from last year.
