French 400-meter hurdler Wilfried Happio has been placed under provisional suspension following multiple anti-doping whereabouts violations, according to an announcement by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

The 26-year-old, who claimed silver at the 2022 European Championships in Munich and reached the semifinals of the Paris Olympics, is now facing potential disciplinary action under World Athletics’ anti-doping regulations.

While the AIU did not disclose specific details about the breaches, these violations typically involve incorrect or missing location data or failure to be available for unannounced out-of-competition drug tests. According to anti-doping rules, an athlete can receive a provisional suspension if they accumulate three whereabouts failures within 12 months. If found guilty, Happio could be banned from competition for up to two years.

The case underscores the importance of strict compliance with anti-doping regulations, as authorities continue their efforts to uphold fairness and integrity in athletics. A final decision on Happio’s suspension will depend on further proceedings and potential appeals.
