With 24 Grand Slam titles to his name, Novak Djokovic stands as Serbia’s most illustrious sports figure. This summer, the world No. 2 has demonstrated his passion for soccer by supporting his national team at the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

Djokovic has been Serbia’s enthusiastic supporter throughout their group stage matches. Determined to cheer them on in person during a crucial match, he didn’t let his Wimbledon preparations—set to begin on July 1—get in the way.

Just hours after updating fans about his training from London, the seven-time Wimbledon champion, who is still considering his participation following surgery for a meniscus tear, was seen in Munich watching Serbia’s Group C match against Denmark.

Djokovic even had the opportunity to step onto the Allianz Arena pitch before the match, greeting the Serbian players with hugs and handshakes, wishing them luck. Unfortunately, Serbia couldn’t secure a victory, ending their Euro 2024 journey with a goalless draw, leaving them at the bottom of their group. England and Denmark advanced with a combined total of five draws and one win.

Despite the outcome, Djokovic seemed to enjoy the match, cheering enthusiastically and taking numerous selfies, igniting social media with his presence.

Upon his return to London, Djokovic faces a challenging path to regain fitness after his knee surgery on June 5. Forced to withdraw from his French Open quarterfinal due to the injury, he has been cautiously resuming practice at Aorangi Park, aiming to be ready for Wimbledon.

Djokovic’s medical team is pleased with his progress, and he is gradually increasing his training intensity, hoping to be fully prepared in the coming days.
