Miami Dolphins Place Tua Tagovailoa on Injured Reserve After Latest Concussion

The Miami Dolphins have placed star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve following his latest concussion, sidelining him for at least four games. The decision allows Tagovailoa time to recover and work with outside neurologists, a crucial step considering his history of head injuries.

Tagovailoa sustained the concussion during the Dolphins’ recent 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills, where he was hit while diving for a first down. This is not his first time dealing with concussions; in 2022, he suffered multiple head injuries, raising concerns about his long-term health. He even considered stepping away from football at one point due to the severity of the issues.

With Tagovailoa out, Skylar Thompson, now in his third year, is expected to take over as the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the Seattle Seahawks. To bolster their quarterback depth, the Dolphins have signed Tyler Huntley from the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.

Tagovailoa’s earliest possible return will be in late October when the Dolphins face the Arizona Cardinals, but the team will be cautious, given the critical nature of his recovery.
