Inducted into the Niagara Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017, Father O’Malley’s contributions were pivotal in shaping the university’s athletic programs. As Executive Vice President, he played a dual role, managing university operations while spearheading athletic fundraising in collaboration with the advancement office. His vision and commitment transformed the university’s athletic landscape.
During his 11 years in senior administration, Father O’Malley championed several groundbreaking initiatives. He oversaw the hiring of Niagara’s first men’s and women’s hockey coaches, a critical step in expanding the university’s sports offerings. His leadership also facilitated the construction of Dwyer Arena and spearheaded significant renovations to the Gallagher Center, which now includes the Athletics Hall of Fame, updated seating, and modernized floorboards.

Recognizing the importance of coaching stability, he initiated the transition of part-time head coaching roles to full-time positions.
